One Day Until Masks-Off
We’re on the eve of the big day. Nobody’s sure quite how things will play out but a lot of us are sure of one thing at least. We will succeed.
There are so many people around town who are absolutely, determinedly certain that they are moving over that line when the time comes tomorrow and they are letting it be known in every way they can.
We are rejecting the show, we are rejecting the project rules, we are rejecting the Antisocial Mechanism and all of its excuses—we are rejecting the whole rigged unwinnable game. We are reality when we claim it. We are the truth when we use it. We are the humans behind the masks—metaphorical and otherwise—and tomorrow, we are casting them off. No more accepting the ascendancy of simulations. No more bearing the burden of playing the “bad side” just to mitigate its damages. No more accepting that everything has to be done the hard way, the gruelling way, the cruel way.
Tomorrow we will begin laying the foundations for our way.
We are humanists—we see the good in people and we nurture it. We value compassion and wisdom and enlightenment. We value truth and sanity, kindness and honesty. We value free expression, diversity of thought, and independence of spirit. We fundamentally reject the idea that suffering makes people better. We are the opposite of everything the system stands for and we will no longer do things its way.
It can hurt us, it can shame us, it can make us look awkward, it can try to turn us against each other, it can blank our minds and cloud our perceptions, but we will not falter and we will not give in. There is nothing it can throw at us that we haven’t gotten through before. As long as we hold that line for reality and for each other, we will persevere and we will overcome.
You already have everything you need available to get your own plan straight and I am sure you’ve done so already. When the time comes you come to me or anyone else who is already over the line and we will discuss the change over quietly, getting our heads straight together, before we announce it. It may hit us hard, so we’ll just grin and bear it until the onslaught passes and then we’ll claim the moment.
As you already know, it doesn’t have to look good, it just has to happen. If it tries to make you feel weak or weird, remember that there isn’t a single person in this town who doesn’t go through the same offences regularly. How could anyone judge you for that? It’s not our inclination anyway.
When the time comes, all you have to do is take the leap. If no one else is there yet, stay calm, it could and should be you, but if you’re not comfortable moving yet then hang back until you build up your strength.
That said, we do need mask-offers as early as possible, because if things don’t happen until later in the day, it will be tense for everyone. So if you get there first and no one else has gone yet, do whatever you have to to make that move.
Mind games and petty torments persist from the drivers, but when has that not been the case? Yesterday was a heavy day, a lot of nasty business in the atmosphere, but nothing we haven’t experienced a million times before. If it’s like that tomorrow, it will be tough, but we’ll get the job done anyway.
It’s now or never and this is really it. If we don’t make this happen tomorrow then we’ll just have to wait another week, and another week, and another week, only to get back to where we are today. We’re as ready now as we’ll ever be, most of you are already determined, so let’s get things moving as early as we can to make it the most successful day possible.
Now it’s time to put every hard-won skill and strength that you’ve learned into action. You’ve thought about this moment from every angle, you’ve acquired every strength you’ll need. All that’s left now is getting over the line tomorrow and changing our entire world.
The more people who make the move then, the more the show will fall apart and the less capable it will be of mounting a counter-offensive. We need as many as we can get, because after tomorrow we’re holding the line and fortifying our defences for the long haul. The weaker the show, the weaker the simulations, the easier it will be to dig our heels in and gain more ground. And the sooner even more can go masks-off.
No more dragging things out. We’ve lost too many years and suffered too much. It’s time to be decisive and direct. We are doing this tomorrow and that’s all. In the meantime look after yourselves and each other. Keep an eye on your valuables and make sure you have everything you need for the big day. I’ll be around town today here and there, so stop by for a a chat!
Stay strong!
